All About Us
"The small parish that does things in a big way."
Welcome to our parish website! St. Walter Parish is a Catholic community nestled between two long time established communities on the Southwest side of Chicago: the Beverly neighborhood and the suburb of Blue Island. Since the 1950's several generations of families have called St. Walter their second home with great affection and with long time friendships that continue to this day.
A diverse community, we come together to celebrate our Catholic faith in a church that is prayerful and intimate. Our parish events throughout the year are varied and enjoyed by all. In the last several years we have had a parish mission, the annual school endowment dinner, The Taste of St. Walter, a pub crawl, May Crowning with a Living Rosary, Lenten Bible Study, the Baby Bottle Project, and our annual Giving Tree at Christmas.
Our parish mission statement summarizes our parish well;
We, the Catholic Community of St. Walter, embrace our call to imitate Jesus Christ. Enlightened by the Catholic tradition, we live this through prayer and worship; stewardship and service.
On behalf of the parish community of St. Walter, we welcome you to attend one of our Sunday Masses (Sat. 4:00PM, Sun. 8:30AM and 10:30AM). Come and see our recently renovated sanctuary and the warmth and joy of our parishoners.
