When a loved one passes away from this life to the next, the parish comes together with the assistance of a funeral home and cemetery personnel to provide a ministry of solace, compassion, and help. By contracting the funeral home first, the parish is contacted to arrange the funeral liturgy for the deceased. A member(s) of the family then meets with the pastor to look at prayers, readings, and music for the funeral in church.
We also have bereavement ministry to all families as a follow-up after the funeral to help deal with their loss. Every year on All Souls Day (November 2nd), a special Mass for families who have suffered a loss of a loved one that year are invited to return and participate. This Mass offers healing and comfort to all who attend, and a reception in the church lobby follows.
