COVID-19 Update from St. Walter Parish
Dear Parishioners of St. Walter Parish,
Due to Governor Pritzker’s shelter-in-place response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we regret to announce that all private prayer and adoration hours are cancelled until further notice. Parishioners can call Fr. Jim at the rectory if they wish to speak with him regarding the pandemic and their faith life during this difficult time at (773) 779-1515. Fr. Jim has already received many phone calls in this regard.
This week, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced that all Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter Sunday celebrations are effectively cancelled. This is disheartening, but we encourage all our parishioners to still celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ at home with your families.
We also ask all parishioners to please keep their rice bowls at home and continue the spirit of almsgiving. We would appreciate if you did not bring any rice bowls to the rectory until public Masses take place again. We also encourage parishioner to mail their weekly donation to St. Walter Parish.
The Archdiocese of Chicago also released a call for common prayer and the ringing of church bells 5 times a day. Beginning March 21st, all church bells in the Archdiocese of Chicago will be rung at 9:00AM, 12:00PM, 3:00PM, 6:00PM, and 9:00PM. We encourage all our parishioners to participate in the act of common prayer at these times. More information regarding the common prayer and ringing of the church bells can be found on our website; www.stwalterparish.com or on our Facebook page; St. Walter Church – Chicago.
These are not easy times, but through our faith in Jesus Christ they will pass.
God bless you all, and stay safe. I miss all of you.
