Saint Vincent De Paul Society

Members provide outreach to families in need living within parish boundaries as well as the larger community. Services include providing items from the food pantry, furniture, clothing vouchers and monetary assistance for those in short term crisis. Meetings are scheduled monthly on the 4th Tuesday 6:30pm Fr. Brown Center.


Arts & Environment
Members decorate the church throughout the liturgical year, especially during the Christmas and Easter seasons. Members meet as needed before special feast and seasons, in the Church.

Book Club
Book Club members discuss religious and secular books; titles are chosen by members. the Book Club meets the first Thursday of the month, October through May in the Father Brown Center.

Children's Liturgy of the Word
At the Liturgy of the word during the 10:30AM Mass, leaders take younger children to the school library to hear and discuss appropriate versions of the Gospel readings for the day. Leaders aim to promote comprehension and reverence for the Gospel.

St. Walter Choir

Members provide music for 10:30AM Masses for which the choir is scheduled to sing, once a month, Christmas and Holy Week. The choir is scheduled to sing September through May. Rehearsals are held the week prior to preformance date on Wednesdays at 7PM in Church.

Domestic Violence Outreach
This Archdiocesan ministry promotes awareness of and education about domestic violence related issues and provides support, guidance and resources to survivors of and victims in this situation. For confidential assistance, please call the rectory (773) 779-1515.

Liturgical Ministires

Readers and Commentators, Communion Minister, Altar Servers and Ushers are scheduled to participate at Mass to proclaim the Word, distribute communion, assist the priest on the altar, welcome and assist parishioners, and present parish announcements. Time commitment is generally twice a month on weekend or other holy days.

Parish Finance Council

Members monitor parish finances, report financial results to the parish, develop special projects ton increase collections and evaluate means to reduce expenses. Meetings take place quarterly. 

Peace and Justice Committee

Members promote activities and provide information about Catholic social justice teachings taken from papal encyclicals and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Members also sell fair trade products in the church lobby, collect clothing for detainees at Broadview Detention Center, attend monthly Vicatiate V meetings at Incarnation parish, and provide weekly bulletin articles relating to Catholic social justice teachings. Meeting are scheduled as necessary. 

Pro-Life

Members maintain the Pro-Life bulletin board in the church lobby to inform parishoners and encourage prayers for Pro-Life, support the Women's Center through participation in the Baby Bottle project, all to develop a culture of Life in the parish. Meetings are scheduled as necessary.
